Rugby League popularity dives as country footy soars.

So in a week that has the rugby league world on notice that they are struggling to compete with netball in the battle for hearts and minds, I am being dragged off to Brisbane to sit through the first State of Origin game for the year. I am keeping an open mind to this and going to try and embrace the spectacle and atmosphere of the whole thing, but remain sceptical. I fell asleep last time I tried to watch a game so unless an elbow in the ribs from Luke keeps me awake I could use the time to catch up on some well earned rest.

In the meantime, check out this hanger from the weekends footy

This is what KB said

Another great round of footy and the expansion teams just keep on getting better. Bring on the Eagles at the Cattery on Saturday and hopefully a top of the table clash against the poos and wees the week after. Exciting to be in Vic at the start of the season and catch a bit of action. Go Cats!

Quiet on the NRL front

It seems as though the year so far is being absolutely dominated by the national indigenous game. Our friends over at NRL land are struggling and no-one has tuned in Crowd Numbers down. This bodes poorly for the northern game but never fear, after a round like that of AFL where crowds were good and games were great, things are on the up and up. How good was the Showdown at the Adelaide Oval? Great stuff and good luck taking on Power at home this year. This week, check out this classic hanger!!

The Game is On.

Ahhhhh, Aussie Rules, the game that supports us all, the game that turns mere mortals into gods, the game that helps guys that look like this, get along OK with a chick that looks like that. It seems our learned friend in NRL land has seen fit to rekindle an age old rivalry, a battle of wit (there's only one wit on this blog dear reader), a tourney for the ages. As I sharpen the QWERTY jousting stick and don the armour of dribble, I say "Yay, for those who live above the Murray and East of the Divide, they yet have never known the joy of 4 uprights on the oval, they do not sense the vacuum of skill produced on a rectangular "oval" (work that out) and they have not experienced the joy of running with the ball." Let them learn, we shall convert!" I say, bring it on my friend, and as we move through the winter of 2014 we shall see who flourishes in the heat of battle, the sauna of silly sentences, and the pressure cooker of conversation. Siren. Bounce. Play on!!!!!

TWO THOUSAND AND FOURTEENohmygodarewethatold

Well well well...  We're back into it folks.  The least visited blog in the Southern Hemmi strikes again..

Lots of water in the Indian Ocean eh..  Lots of water under the bridge since the last post by the indubitable Scooter.  What's been going on in the world of the league variant of rugby and the Mexican football league you ask?  Well, it's been emotional (thanks Vinnie, grab another testicle brother..!).

Let's see if we can't come up with a list hey my brethren:

1. DRUGS
2. DRUGS

Is that really all we got Scoot?  Oh yes I remember, last year wasn't it?  Organised criminal gangs touting PEDs to all and sundry etc etc, the 'Darkest Day' indeed, what.  Golden Balls Hird's wife's mouth got him in the kaka again.  Oh when will she ever learn aiy, am i right boys eh winkity wink..  What about P. Gallen and his Origin 'Superhuman' effort never seen before and never to be repeated..  Hey Danky, whaddya reckon..?   It was around that time wasn't it....?

Anyways, enough trap of the clap variety, on with Season 2014 and let the grudge continue..
